Janice Bannister


Lead Instructor and Owner of Laughter Zone 101

Janice is a stand-up comic, motivational speaker, TedxSFU presenter, writer, show producer, and the author of zero books. She has co-written two interactive plays.

  • She has been the lead instructor at Laughter Zone 101 since 2003. She developed the adult stand-up comedy programs for Douglas College, and Capilano University, and the Capilano Kids in Comedy summer camp program.   • She taught Therapeutic Laughter for Langara College for one term only, because the Math class next door complained about too much laughing disrupting their studies. Hmmmmm.

  • She has taught the Stand Up for Mental Health and the Comedy Courage stand-up comedy classes. And produced two of their gala fundraiser shows.

  • Janice has private coaching sessions for comics and speakers. These clients have gone on to do Amazon comedy specials, Ted Talks, conference keynotes, win comedy contests, and have got many paid feature spots in comedy clubs.

  • She is the winner of BC’s Funniest Female (2003) BC’s Funniest Almost New Female (Second place 2004) Winner of Comics with a Day Job (2003). She has performed for Vancouver International Comedy Festival, The Women’s Network She Laughs, I am Woman Hear me Laff (2014 & 2018) The Ha Ha Sisterhood (Seattle), and many other comedy gigs.

  • Janice is a feature keynote for conference presentations. She speaks on “Laughter-A Wellness Tool” and “The Wrinkle Revolution”.

  • She has been featured on CBC TV & radio, Vancouver Sun Business BC (2014 Real Life draws a Real Laugh). The New West Record, TriCities News.
